Creative Victoria partners with a range of organisations on initiatives that will foster the development of Indigenous arts practice in Victoria and provide opportunities for Victoria’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
These partnerships often seek to address gaps and provide significant new opportunities to develop the sector.
Recent examples include:
- WEAVE, a partnership with Footscray Community Arts Centre and Craft Victoria to connect Koorie weavers, develop and refine their skills in traditional and contemporary weaving, and showcase, exhibit and sell their work.
- Connections, a partnership with Federal Government’s Office for the Arts to develop Victorian Indigenous visual art organisations, and provide opportunities for networking, resource and knowledge sharing.
- The inaugural Koorie Heritage Trust Salon exhibition, a partnership with the Koorie Heritage Trust to showcase the work of Victorian Indigenous visual artists.
- ACCELERATE, a partnership with the British Council that provides tailored leadership opportunities for talented Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people working in the creative industries.
Organisations, businesses and Government bodies are encouraged to discuss ideas for new Indigenous Partnerships with Creative Victoria. Please contact Elizabeth Liddle, Senior Arts Officer - Indigenous Art on 03 8683 3136 or email Elizabeth.Liddle@ecodev.vic.gov.au
