The creative energy of a state is dependent on a strong base of cultural infrastructure that covers all aspects of the arts. Victoria is a leader in this area, with a 40-year legacy in developing our cultural and arts precincts under Creative Victoria, as well as implementing new projects and building on pre-existing ones.

The Collingwood Technical School in Johnston Street was unoccupied for nearly a decade until Creative Victoria took over management in 2010.
Once an industrial area, the inner Melbourne suburb of Southbank is now one of Victoria’s fastest growing areas and is home to one of the highest concentrations of arts organisations in the world.
After lying dormant since the 1980s the vacant site hidden away behind the Arts Centre and the Australian Ballet has returned to life as a free open air arts space.
